The Lazy Cockatrice (Hex 0203)
Area-2: The Lower Tower
A stone tower was erected alongside the inn during the Crusade era. It serves as a home base for a pair of road wardens in the employ of the Baron of Alliri. The lower floor is built around the inn's secondary well, and has a sturdy door that is usually locked in the West wall facing the carriage entrance (1-B). The door includes a hatch just large enough to fore a crossbow through.
A door in the North wall opens into the inn's common room. The innkeeper feeds the wardens simple meals when they are present. If the wardens are present, they keep the door unlocked. Otherwise , it is locked and barred.
Contents: Aside from chests of travel clothes, and toiletries, there is usually a cask of beer, two coats-of-plate, a pair of shortbows and 3d10+30 arrows, a pair of hslberds and Lucerne hammers, ink, a long roll of paper, sealing wax, and quills.
The Road Wardens
The road wardens currently assigned to the tower, Hamish Lorne, and Devon Pooley are both Lawful 4th level fighters. There is only a 2-in-6 chance for each to be present on a given day. They carry halberds, shortbows, and short swords while on the road.
Hamish Lorne is a steel-haired man who wears an ornate mustache and hums old tunes to himself frequently. He whittles in his spare time. An excellent listener.
Devon Pooley is a dark-haired and eyed man with a haunted, weary look. He carries a deep emotional scar from an encounter with an evil Faerie, and sometimes has night terrors, He is very polite man, but distant.
